Say potato, say Agrico
Markies is a very good potato for French fries (chips) and is in big demand all over Kenya. Processors, hotels and restaurants highly value it for its frying characteristics and taste. Its low sugar level remains for a long time enabling excellent cooking quality.
It is yellow skin potato and late maturing (120 days).
Markies is an erect tall variety with white flowers. The variety has good heat tolerance.
A preventative spraying schedule against late blight is necessary even though Markies is only slightly susceptible to this. Markies is early blight sensitive and therefore a good treatment against this is necessary.
